I'm just a summer girl

The Loose Shirt: Four Ways!

Just some inspiration on how to wear the loose shirt several different ways. Who doesn't want to stay comfy and cute all summer long?

How to wear a romper!

How to wear a romper

Rompers are everywhere this summer. Walk through any mall, and you are bound to see these very cute, versatile pieces on display. Rompers are easy pieces because they keep you cool in the hottest weather and are perfect for layering. Rompers also come in many different styles, so find one that suits you (whether it be a tshirt like top, a ruffle-y one shoulder, or a simple spaghetti strap.) The lengths of the bottoms often tend to differ, so be sure to try rompers on before if you aren't comfortable wearing anything too short! Another great thing about rompers is that it can take you from day to night. All you have to change is you acessories. So have fun with this look and experiment with different outfit styles.

Here are some Tips and Tricks on how to wear one of this summers hottest pieces!

For a trendier look: throw on a crocheted sweater over your romper. It will keep you warm on cool summer nights while making your outfit look even cuter. To stay with the casual vibe of the sweater, wear flats or gladiator sandals. Keep makeup simple and pretty with pink lips and a neutral eye. As for the hair? Beachy waves would complete the easy-going vibe of this look.

For an edgier look (and a great transitional look for fall): pair your romper with tights and boots. Top it off with a leather jacket and your good to go! I'd wear my hair straight for this look and perhaps a bright lip colour with subtle smoky eyes.

For the girly-girl: keep your look casual yet cute with an oversized sweater and flats. Adding black tights would also be a great fall look, come September. Wear your hair curly for the maximum girly effect. As for makeup, long luscious lashes and pink gloss will do.

And for the most casual, yet still trendy look: try pairing your romper with a loose graphic tee and neutral acessories. This outfit works because the blue shirt picks up the blue from the floral romper, sticking to the currently popular colour-blocking trend. Mixing prints has also been a fun trend to try, florals and stripes seem to be the easiest to do. Keep the rest of your outfit simple by throwing on a neutral coloured scarf and flip flops! Perfect outfit for strolling around the city or a day out shopping.

Sunday musings

Taking a break from reading about Canadian women's history... and admiring these photos taken by (who other than) the Sartorialist. I especially love how each picture emulates a different type of confidence these women have.

Sorry to be cliche, but I believe a picture really does say a thousand words.

I love the fact that pictures tell a story. They capture parts of someone's personality that maybe can't be portrayed in any other way. What I find admiring is how each woman is extremely glamourous; not only in the way they dress or the way they are made up, but in the way they act as well. Glamour is about confidence and being yourself. Glamour is about getting through life, with a smile on your face; ready to face whatever situation may come about.

Hope you enjoyed this random post... and possibly find some inspiration from these pictures.

Ta ta! xo

Fall Lusts...

What's on my must have list? Autumn basics! For the next couple of months (yes including my Christmas list ;)) I'll be on the hunt for these essential items. What's on your fall lust list?

1. A quality oversized cardigan.. that can be worn with just about anything!
2. A brown leather belt. Very chic.
3. A modest length pencil skirt.. remember my previous 50's glamour post?
4. A draped jacket! So hard to find a decent one... on a small budget... =(
5. A bouncy printed skirt. Very versatile piece, can go from day to night.
6. Some great platform "hiking" boots. So cute. I must get a pair ;)
7. Every woman needs a structured bag. Its simple, classic yet oh so feminine. And pulls any look together.

Thats it for today my lovelies. Have a great weekend. XO

Fall 2010: Beauty Trends.

This fall, much like the trends we saw on the runway, the beauty trends are total opposites. You can be dramatic or au naturel. Which ever you perfer, I promise you'll look fabulous! Here's some tips:

Red Lips.
Find the right red for you. Go bold with lipstick or stick to a stain. There are many different shades to try. If you only want to test it out, try burgundy... and eventually lead up to the bright stuff ;)

Pony Tails.
Yay for ponytails! I rock these many times within a week. High, low, in the middle, to the side, sleek, with a pouf... the list goes on and on. However you like it, rock it out!

Dramatic Shadow.
These fall make up artists explored the idea of putting shadow right up to the browbone. It's a bold look, but it could look really nice with neutral colours, dont you think? Need some help finding the perfect neutrals? Get Urban Decay's NAKED PALETTE! It's the answer to all our prayers =)

Bombshell Waves.
Perfect for any outfit and any occaision. Give it a try, use a larger curling iron or a straightener with rounded ends. Or... put your hair into a messy bun for a bit and voila! You've got waves to die for!

Au Naturel Makeup.
This look is just about enhancing your natural beauty. The idea of wearing making without really wearing makeup... know what I mean? Key: flawless skin, soft pink lips, little to no shadow, brown mascara.

Have fun practicing and playing around with these looks. The trends are so bi-polar, mix it up and discover what you like best.
